Horse Racing: Today at Del Mar, Nov 29

Post Time 12:30 p.m.

Race 1 – 1 1/16th miles (turf), Purse $56,000, Maiden special weights, 2-year-olds

11 Willing to Travel – Key for me is he’ll get a good trip under Rafael Bejarano; will be always well placed.

4 Pretentious – Made his turf debut last time a good one; .

Long Shot – 2 Zip It Up

Race 2 – 6 furlongs, Purse $19,000, Maiden claiming $20,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

3 Home Made Brownie – If you follow my picks, you know how much I like cutback horses; class drop helps too.

1 Galehorn – Should save every inch of ground tonight; ran big last time and is capable of better tonight.

Long Shot – 6 Here Comes Bobbie

Race 3 – 1 1/8th miles, $200,000 Native Diver, 3-year-olds and up

3 Blue Tone – Chance to sit a stalking trip and grind it out late; key mark is 4-for-6 wins over synthetics.

1 Big Cazanova – Speedball has wilted his last two over dirt; returns to synthetics where he is undefeated.

Long Shot – 5 Avanzare

Race 4 – 1 1/16th miles (turf), Purse $56,000, Maiden special weights, 2-year-olds

3 Grand Sky – Was well bet in grass debut and closed spectacularly; among many with a big shot in here.

9 Bolo – Another who ran greenly early, then closed like a cannon shot late; toughest race on the card today.

Long Shot – 11 Film Freak

Race 5 – 1 mile, Purse $19,000, Claiming $16,000, 3-year-olds and up

10 Counting Days – Hard fought second last time in a near wire to wire win; was shadowed the entire trip.

5 Fonz – Stretched out nicely in last to put up a good fight; like that Rafael Bejarano remains loyal.

Long Shot – 4 Cacau

Race 6 – 1 mile (turf), $150,000 Jimmy Durante, Fillies, 2-year-olds

2 Rainha Da Bateria – Never had a chance in the BC Juvenile Fillies; she fits better in this softer spot.

7 Bobbi Grace – Ran creditably in her U.S. debut; chased two good ones in Her Emmynency and She’s Complete.

Long Shot – 9 Jaded Glory

Race 7 – 6 furlongs, Purse $58,000, Optional claiming $40,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

6 Room for Me – If you read my comments you know I like cutback horses; this one has won over synthetics.

4 Mum’s Truckee – Would rank higher but synthetic mark is 0-for-7 lifetime; still is a fast foe in here.

Long Shot – 8 Oscillator

Race 8 – 1 1/8th miles (turf), $300,000 Hollywood Derby, 3-year-olds

5 California Chrome – Love watching a race where everything is on the line; turf debut is the great unknown.

2 Lexie Lou – She was pointed for this spot, but got the surprise of her life; a really quality turf horse.

Long Shot – 4 Sawyer’s Hill

Race 9 – 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $56,000, Maiden special weights, Fillies, 2-year-olds

4 Dad’s Princess – She has more talent than she’s show so far; her synthetic races were by far her best.

2 Longstocking – FTS from the highly regarded Michael McCarthy barn; watch the tote board for more clues.

Long Shot – 3 Elle Sueno

Best Bet – 2 Rainha Da Bateria (race 6)

Del Mar Friday – Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 15/3/$26.20; Long Shots, 8/3/$31.40; Best Bet, 1/0/$0
