TODAY AT HOLLYWOOD PARK

By Richard Eng

Post Time 1 p.m.

Race 1 – 6 furlongs (turf, rail at 10 feet), Purse $54,000, Optional claiming $40,000, 3-year-olds and up

4 Legal Separation – Claimed by the wise John Sadler off a gutsy win; it was down the hillside turf course too.

5 Kilat – Monster win in last by open lengths; don’t see that too often in a turf sprint, may be the real deal.

Long Shot – 1 El Mirage King

Race 2 – 1 1/16th miles, Purse $17,000, Claiming $8,000, 3-year-olds and up

5 Corner Office – Has winning ways with last 2-of-3 in the winner’s circle; stretching back out around 2-turns.

3 Beer Meister – Has not one drop of early speed; he is a powerful dead late closer who will need help up front.

Long Shot – 6 Ultimate Decision

Race 3 – 6 furlongs (turf, rail at 10 feet), Purse $35,000, Starter allowance $40,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

5 Full’s Figurehead – Won first race off the claim by Paul Aguirre; Aguirre is a very underrated trainer.

7 Bluegrass Ellie – Put together a career best in graduating last time; key will be if she can repeat the big effort.

Long Shot – 4 Italian Baba

Race 4 – 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $23,000, Maiden claiming $30,000, 3-year-olds and up

7 Wise Boss – Improved a boatload after Ron Ellis added blinkers on; similar try would crush these.

4 Yacht Harbor – Ran evenly in debut for Blake Heap; suspect his babies will improve with experience.

Long Shot – 2 Dark Timbers

Race 5 – 6 furlongs, Purse $32,000, Claiming $25,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

8 Woebegon – Has changed hands in 3-of-4 races now; Ted West takes over, filly is well spotted with her friends.

3 One Magical Girl – Bill Spawr brings this filly back in a claim proof spot; figures to fire well fresh.

Long Shot – 9 Addendum

Race 6 – 1 1/16th miles, Purse $54,000, Optional claiming $40,000, 3-year-olds and up

3 Black N Beauty – Ran evenly last time in return off a 3-month hiatus; suspect he’ll be wound much tighter tonight.

8 Keyboard Courage – Peter Miller board is lighting up the tote board this meet; tactical speed to sit a perfect trip.

Long Shot – 5 Genius

Race 7 – 1 mile (turf, rail at 10 feet), Purse $52,000, Maiden special weights, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

3 Princess of Pearl – Hasn’t shown a killer instinct despite some good finishes; we’ll see if its the herd mentality.

1 Two Blue Hens – Suspect this filly has wanted to go around 2-turns; Gary Stevens is riding very well, enough said.

Long Shot – 8 Legacy

Race 8 – 1 1/8th miles, $150,000 Californian, 3-year-olds and up

5 Liaison – Looks like a brand new racehorse in 2013; a race like this will help find out where his ceiling is.

1 Clubhouse Ride – Smiling because his nemesis Game On Dude isn’t here; instead, another Bob Baffert in Liaison.

Long Shot – 3 Kettle Corn

Race 9 – 6 furlongs (turf, rail at 10 feet), Purse $52,000, Cal-breds, 3-year-olds and up

8 Tribal Dude – Garrett Gomez doesn’t ride in a cheap last race very often; suspect it’s worth holding up dinner plans.

9 Dreamnofatticus – Was well bet in debut and was running well late; parking lot post hurts him, but he’ll run on.

Long Shot – 5 Lucky Cotton

Best Bet – 5 Liaison (race 8)
