Horse Racing: Today at Santa Anita, May 7
Post Time 1 p.m.
Race 1 - 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $21,000, Claiming $12,500, 3-year-olds and up
6 Timeless Indy - Ran very well in last for $16K price tag; won twice prior for $8K, in good form now.
1 Bob Consultation - Chased Timeless Indy two races ago; claimed by Kelly Castaneda, still fits here.
Long Shot - 2 Destino
Race 2 - 1 mile (turf, rail at 15 feet), Purse $56,000, Maiden special weights, 3-year-olds and up
1 King of Jazz - Returns to turf where he ran very well two races back; chance to save all of the ground.
6 Selection - Big second off the claim by Jorge Gutierrez; like that Rafael Bejarano remains loyal to the cause.
Long Shot - 7 Paythebank
Race 3 - 4 1/2 furlongs, Purse $56,000, Maiden special weights, Fillies, 2-year-olds
4 Miss Gridley - This 2-YO filly cost $175K so a start this soon should not be taken lightly; hot Tyler Baze up.
1 Sambamzajammin - More John Brocklebank shipping down from Dixie Downs; they are due to pop a couple nice ones.
Long Shot - 3 Mint Julep Taffy
Race 4 - 1 mile (turf, rail at 15 feet), Purse $58,000, Optional claiming $80,000, Fillies, 3-year-olds
2 Havana Belle - Ran a bit dull in last and now tries blinkers on; Rafael Bejarano for the Phillip D’Amato barn.
3 Frosty Friday - Ran miserably in last after a good looking MSW two races ago; reunited with Corey Nakatani.
Long Shot - 7 Miss Double d’Oro
Race 5 - 1 mile, Purse $56,000, Maiden special weights, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
6 Danette - Comes back on short rest; I look at that as a positive returning within 12 days, deep closer tactics.
9 Conquest Curlgirl - Must overcome a parking lot post at 1 mile; ground loss may be her achilles heel with these.
Long Shot - 8 Hard Night’s Day
Race 6 - 1 mile (turf, rail at 15 feet), Purse $32,000, Claiming $25,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
4 Jade With Envy - The Richard Baltas barn has become a real force in the last two years; expect more improvement.
2 Miss Ellany - Expect speed and a rail trip under Victor Espinoza; now that he’s one 3 KY Derbies, he is an elite.
Long Shot - 1 Love Blind
Race 7 - 6 furlongs, Purse $58,000, Optional claiming $20,000, Cal-breds, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
8 Time for Angie - Bounced in last after a winning race two back; tiny edge in a really contentious affair.
2 Codacious - Don’t usually like to pick recent graduates; last race is fast enough, if repeated, to beat these too.
Long Shot - 10 Peppy Bolly
Race 8 - 1 1/16th miles, Purse $19,000, Maiden claiming $20,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
5 Dixie Dame - The class drop from maiden claiming $30K to $20K can be enormous; facing a very slow group tonight.
9 Del Mar Dixie - Appears to be a grinder after two even starts; Tyler Baze is a maestro in the day’s final race.
Long Shot - 3 Red Carrera
Best Bet - 4 Jade With Envy (race 6)
