Castro shines as 51s avoid sweep at Tacoma

Travis Snider hit a three-run home run in the first inning, and 51s starter Fabio Castro and two relievers shut down the Tacoma Rainiers on two hits Monday as Las Vegas salvaged the finale of a four-game Pacific Coast League series with a 4-0 victory in Tacoma, Wash.

Snider's one-out homer, his seventh of the season, staked the 51s (48-55) to a 3-0 lead.

Castro (5-5) worked seven innings, allowing only a first-inning single to Brad Nelson and a fourth-inning single to Mike Carp, while walking two and striking out 10.

Rommie Lewis and Edward Buzachero each worked a perfect inning of relief for the 51s.

The 51s' fourth run came in the third inning on a home run by Buck Coats.

Doug Fisher (6-3) gave up 10 of the 51s' 13 hits in taking the loss for the Rainiers (49-53).
