Ready or not, high school football season is less than four months away.
The Clark County School District athletic office has finalized the Class 4A and 3A schedule for the 2010 football season, which will begin in late August. The 4A season concludes with the state championship game Dec. 4 in Reno.
Sunset Region runner-up Cimarron-Memorial will visit Northeast League champion Las Vegas in the season opener at 8 p.m. Aug. 26. The game will be televised locally as part of the Thursday Night Lights TV package, which will showcase one game per week. Defending state champion Bishop Gorman opens its season Aug. 28 when it hosts Del Oro (Calif.) at 7 p.m.
The Gaels finished 15-0, including a 62-21 win over Del Sol in the state title game at Sam Boyd Stadium.
League play is scheduled to begin in the Sunset Region on Sept. 11, when teams play rare Saturday games due to the Rosh Hashanah holiday.
The Sunrise Region starts league play Sept. 16.
Other games of note during the regular season are: Del Sol at Canyon Springs on Sept. 2; Basic at Durango on Sept. 3; the annual Bone Game with Las Vegas at Rancho on Oct. 15; Del Sol at Basic on Oct. 22; Legacy at Palo Verde on Oct. 28; and Durango at Gorman on Nov. 5.
The Sunrise Region playoffs begin Nov. 5 and the Sunset on Nov. 12.
The Sunset Region winner advances directly to the state title game. The Sunrise winner will meet the Northern Region champion Nov. 27 in Reno to determine the other state finalist.
