College of Southern Nevada roundup: Baseball wins, softball drops pair

Cody Clark hit a home run in the third inning to lift the College of Southern Nevada baseball team to a 1-0 victory over Pima Community College on Thursday in the Coyote Classic at Morse Stadium.

Joey Lauria (2-0) allowed two hits in six innings with 10 strikeouts for CSN (3-2).

CSN continues the tournament today against Pima at 2:30 p.m. and against Northeastern Junior College at 6 p.m.

The CSN softball team lost twice in the Great Western Shootout at Yuma, Ariz.

Arizona Western College beat CSN 6-3 in the first game. Rhiana Balaun went 2-for-3 with an RBI and Tiffani Taylor hit an RBI triple for CSN.

CSN (4-3) fell to Eastern Arizona College 4-1 in the second game. Balaun again went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

CSN continues the tournament today against Arizona Western at 9 a.m. and Golden West College at 1 p.m.
