Delp, Bonanza boys top Western to capture playoff berth

Tomo Delp had 20 points and 10 rebounds as Bonanza’s boys basketball team claimed a 79-74 road win over Western on Thursday to capture the Southwest Division’s final playoff berth.

Al Castaldo added 16 points for the Bengals. Johnnie Diggs had 22 points and Phillip Payne 20 for the Warriors.

Eldorado 67, Valley 51 — At Eldorado, Mitrell Clark scored 19 points, hitting five 3-pointers, as the Sundevils defeated the Vikings.

Mike Elliot added 13 points for Eldorado. Cordero Harris led Valley with 19 points.

Canyon Springs 62, Chaparral 45 — At Chaparral, Antonio Snow scored 17 points to lead the Pioneers over the Cowboys.

Deremy Geiger added 13 points for the Pioneers, who finished tied with Eldorado at 10-2 in the Northeast. Canyon Springs got the league’s top playoff seed on a tiebreaker.

Tyler Bryant scored 14 points to lead Chaparral.

Sierra Vista 55, Clark 47 — At Sierra Vista, Josh McLain scored eight of his 21 points in the fourth quarter for the Lions, who overcame an eight-point, second-half deficit to take down the Chargers.

Isidro Garcia scored 21 points to lead Clark.

Las Vegas 75, Rancho 55 — At Rancho, Marvin Campbell scored 16 points to lead the Wildcats.

Aamahd Franklin added 12 points for Las Vegas. Dejon Bowman scored 27 points for Rancho.


Eldorado 47, Valley 45 — At Eldorado, Andrei Martin and Tonisha McGee each had 13 points as the Sundevils edged the Vikings.

Vanessa Corona scored 16 points for Valley.

Bonanza 74, Western 54 — At Western, Shirley Pitts scored 23 points to lead four double-figure scorers for the Bengals.

Christin Figgins scored 13 points, Terra Novak 12 and Laura Nelson 10 for Bonanza, which led 43-19 at halftime.

Derricka Glover led Western with 23 points.

Chaparral 52, Canyon Springs 42 — At Chaparral, Amanda Mayes had 19 points as the Cowboys closed their season with a win.

Daryl Coleman had 18 points, all in the second half, to help keep Canyon Springs in the game.

Sierra Vista 56, Clark 43 — At Sierra Vista, Jeanette Jackson and Brianna Tolliver each had 15 points to lead the Lions.

Joanna Umana led Clark with 17 points.

Rancho 56, Las Vegas 33 — At Rancho, Khalia Branch had 30 points for Rancho, which used an 8-0 run to open the second half to take control.

Jervai Taylor led Las Vegas with 13 points.
