Denver Nuggets point guard Ty Lawson was cited for DUI for the second time since January in an early Tuesday morning arrest in Los Angeles.
"We have been notified of an incident involving Ty Lawson this morning in Los Angeles," said Nuggets General Manager and Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations Tim Connelly. "We will not have further comment on the matter."
Lawson was arrested at 2:29 a.m. and driving at a high rate of speed of Highway 101 according to California Highway Patrol.
"He displayed several signs of symptoms of alcohol intoxication," officer Kevin Tao told the Denver Post on Tuesday.
Lawson was arrested for DUI on Jan. 23 in Denver and was scheduled to appear in court Friday. That court date could be impacted by a second arrest in less than six months. He was given pre-trial supervision until his Friday court date, and Tuesday‘s arrest is in violation of those terms.
Lawson, 27, has played his entire six-year career with the Nuggets and averaged 15.2 points and 9.6 assists last season.
