Desert Pines edges Chaparral in boys volleyball

Jose De La Cruz had 30 assists to help the Desert Pines boys volleyball team outlast visiting Chaparral 25-17, 22-25, 25-14, 24-26, 15-9 on Monday night.

Paul Burns had 25 kills for Desert Pines. Carlos Chandia led the Cowboys with 21 assists.

Bishop Gorman 3, Spring Valley 2 — At Gorman, Bobby Houser had 22 digs and 16 kills to lead the Gaels to 17-25, 25-23, 25-20 23-25, 15-12 victory over the Grizzlies.

Chris Pitaro added 39 assists for Gorman, and Jake Houser had 17 kills.

Eric James had 24 kills and Tayvin Garcia 32 assists for Spring Valley.

Las Vegas 3, Valley 0 — At Las Vegas, Jonathan Dugan had eight kills and four aces, and Danny Faris had 25 assists and five aces to lead the Wildcats over the Vikings, 25-12, 25-10, 25-16.

Chris Gbelay added six blocks and four kills, and Jordan Hamilton had six kills and two blocks for Las Vegas.

Sierra Vista 3, Western 0 — At Western, Brent Waldron had nine kills and three aces to lead the Lions over the Warriors.

Kohl Homeyer added four kills and two aces for Sierra Vista. Jeremy Buckley led Western with seven kills.

Rancho 3, Eldorado 0 — At Eldorado, J.B. Drury had 15 kills as the Rams defeated the Sundevils, 25-20, 25-12, 25-8.

Steve Cuevas added four aces and 10 digs, and Antonio Boucher had four aces for Rancho.

Bonanza 3, Clark 0 — At Clark, Dallin Hyer and Scott Davis each had 11 kills to lead the Bengals to a 25-11, 25-10, 25-15 win over the Chargers.

Mike Hartmann added 34 assists for Bonanza.

Durango 3, Legacy 0 — At Durango, Darren Torrie had 13 assists and five aces to lead the Trailblazers past the Longhorns, 25-11, 25-22, 25-18.

Frank Keil added seven kills and Mark Brautigam five kills for Durango. Steven Leavitt had nine assists for Legacy.
