Ex-UNLV star Theus to interview at DePaul

Minnesota Timberwolves assistant coach Reggie Theus will interview for the head coach opening at DePaul.

"That's my understanding," Timberwolves coach Kurt Rambis said before Wednesday's game against Sacramento.

Theus, a former UNLV star, said he hasn't had a direct conversation with officials from the Chicago school but that his agent is handling initial conversations.

"I'm getting calls, but I'm not picking up my phone until after the game," Theus said.

Theus, who played 13 seasons in the NBA, was an assistant coach to Rick Pitino at Louisville for two seasons. He later was the head coach at New Mexico State and led the Aggies to the 2007 NCAA Tournament. Theus coached the Sacramento Kings for one-plus seasons.

DePaul fired coach Jerry Wainwright in January, and assistant Tracy Webster was interim coach for the rest of the season.
