Faith Lutheran golfer Freman advances in match play at U.S. Girls Junior Amateur

Faith Lutheran High School golfer Anne Freman had to work a little overtime, but still shot her way into the second round of match play at the U.S. Girls Junior Amateur in Daly City, Calif.

Freman beat Isabella Skinner of Cumming, Ga., on the 20th hole by making birdie on a par-4 to advance to today’s round of 32. Freman lost the second hole of the match to go 1 down, but made it up on the par-3 third when Skinner bogeyed, and Freman never trailed the rest of the match.

Freman, who will be a senior this year, was 1 up heading to the 17th hole, but bogeyed as Skinner tied it. The two both bogeyed 18 to remain tied, then bogeyed 19 as well before Freman’s winning birdie.
