FISHING REPORT

■ LAKE MEAD -- Action has been strong for stripers using cut anchovies, live shad and shad imitations in deep water under balls of shad. Most of the fish caught have been in the 1- to 4-pound range, while some have weighed upward of 12 pounds. The largemouth and smallmouth bass action is fair on plastics and reaction baits, but cooling water is slowing their bite. Anglers have had fair success with red-ear sunfish and bluegill, with most being taken in 6 to 20 feet of water. Look for flooded brush areas for the bass and panfish.

■ LAKE MOHAVE -- Striped bass action has slowed, but a few fish continue to show each week after the trout plants. The best action has been from mile-markers 50 to 52 on cast or trolled troutlike plugs and swim baits. The trout bite remains good on salmon eggs, Power Bait, worms, Super Dupers and other small lures and jigs after the weekly plants of 3,000 rainbows.

■ LAUGHLIN -- Stocked rainbows are providing anglers with good fishing from Davis Camp past Casino Row, and a few carry-over fish from past plants are taking baits as well. Some anglers have found success for striped bass while throwing plugs and swim baits in trout patterns. Construction limits access to the Nevada side of the Colorado River below the bridge.

■ URBAN PONDS -- Action for stocked rainbows has been good following the weekly fish plants by the Nevada Department of Wildlife. Fly patterns, spinners, worms and commercial trout baits are catching fish. At this time of year, a good change-up to the usual baits is the combo meal or a mini-marshmallow with a salmon egg.

■ KIRCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA -- The reservoirs are frozen over, but the ice is too thin for fishing.

■ EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR -- The reservoir is frozen over, but the ice is too thin for fishing.

■ ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR -- The reservoir is frozen over, but the ice is too thin for fishing.
