Five-run inning, Lawrie’s two homers spark 51s’ 11-7 win at Omaha

The 51s scored five runs in the seventh inning to blow open a close game and defeat the Omaha Storm Chasers 11-7 on Sunday in the Pacific Coast League at Omaha, Neb.

Dewayne Wise, who was 4-for-6, tripled to open the seventh and scored on a David Cooper single. Danny Perales added a two-run single with the bases loaded, and Chris Woodward capped the surge with a two-run double to make it 8-3.

In the eighth, Brett Lawrie hit his second two-run homer of the game for the 51s (26-18), who held off a rally by Omaha. (23-20), which scored a run in the eighth and three in the ninth.

Lawrie also homered in the first inning, after Wise's leadoff single. Wise scored four runs -- two on Lawrie's homers -- and Cooper and Woodward both went 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Perales went 2-for-5 with a double and run.

Cooper hit a third-inning single to score Wise. Oliver Dominguez had an RBI double in the ninth inning to cap the scoring for Las Vegas.

Starter Mike MacDonald got the victory, allowing three runs (two earned) on seven hits and a walk in six innings. Reliever Blaine Hardy took the loss, giving up all five of the 51s' seventh inning runs.
