Forfeit, defeat drop Basic to third place in Southeast

A week ago, Basic's baseball team was battling for the top spot in the Southeast Division.

But a loss to Green Valley and a forfeited league game have the Wolves currently in third place.

Basic was forced to forfeit three games, including an 8-7 league win over Silverado on March 26, for using a player who lived outside the school's attendance zone.

In addition to the Silverado game, the Wolves forfeited wins over Bonanza and Desert Pines.

SIGNINGS -- Second team all-state boys basketball player Justin King of Liberty has signed to play at Southwestern Oregon Community College.

King averaged 19.5 points and 13.0 rebounds for the Patriots.

Former Sierra Vista boys basketball standout Lacy Haddock has signed to play at the College of Southern Idaho.

Haddock graduated from Sierra Vista in 2007 but didn't play last year while recovering from knee surgery.
