Pablo Sandoval hit two home runs, and Brock Bond’s RBI single capped the Fresno Grizzlies’ two-run eighth inning in their 5-4 win over the 51s in a Pacific Coast League game Friday in Fresno, Calif.
Sandoval, a third baseman on a rehabilitation assignment for the San Francisco Giants while recovering from left hand surgery, led off the bottom of the fourth and sixth innings with homers. The first gave the Grizzlies (39-22) a 1-0 lead, and the second tied the score at 2.
Jonathan Diaz hit a two-out RBI double in the fifth and Travis d’Arnaud a two-out RBI single in the sixth for Las Vegas (33-28).
The 51s went up 4-2 in the seventh on Anthony Gose’s run-scoring single and Vladimir Guerrero’s sacrifice fly.
Bond hit a one-out single in the bottom of the seventh and, after two walks, scored on Conor Gillaspie’s groundout.
Las Vegas reliever Evan Crawford (1-1) came on in the eighth and gave up two runs on three hits in the inning, including Bond’s two-out line drive to center field.
Jesse Chavez started for the 51s and gave up two runs on five hits and two walks in 5 2/3 innings. He struck out five.
Dan Otero (3-2), who relieved starter Brian Burres in the seventh, got the win.
