Post Time 7:05 p.m.

Race 1 – 1 mile (turf, rail at 15 feet), Purse $48,000, Allowance, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

5 Late Cuddle – Stalked a slow pace in last and took over as pleased; is working through her conditions one by one.

2 West Hope – Looks like lone speed from this Kentucky import; draw a line through the Keeneland race, she’s better on turf than that.

Long Shot – 3 Spring Style

Race 2 – 1 1/16th miles, Purse $14,000, Maiden claiming $25,000, 3-year-olds and up

7 Dave’s Ruler – He’s been second 4-of-8 starts; many close but no cigar yet, takes the blinkers off here.

4 Donato – Taking the biggest class drop in racing from MSW to maiden claiming; need not be much to compete.

Long Shot – 5 Trueno

Race 3 – 1 1/16th miles, Purse $40,000, Optional claiming $40,000, 3-year-olds and up

3 Tweebster – Exits a hard-fought graduation win; facing winners for the first time, no powerhouses in here.

2 Pode – Brazilian import has excelled in marathon races; main concern is he may not be quick enough early on.

Long Shot – 1 Fog Alert

Race 4 – 1 mile (turf, rail at 15 feet), Purse $40,000, Allowance, 3-year-olds and up

5 Jairzihno – Even run last time after a solid second in the Del Mar Derby; none of these are big on winning.

6 Royal F J – Has cashed in 11-of-13 career starts; not big on winning, but always runs well enough to be in the number.

Long Shot – 4 Imponente Purse

Race 5 – 5 furlongs, Purse $15,000, Maiden claiming $32,000, 2-year-olds

7 Captain Shawn D – Among many FTS in an ugly looking field; you’ll have an edge over me in seeing the tote action.

9 Swiss Hero – Among those with experience, he looks best; is 5-of-7 in the money, might inherit the lead.

Long Shot – 11 Speed Bias

Race 6 – 1 mile (turf, rail at 15 feet), Purse $29,000, Claiming $40,000, 3-year-olds

6 Lyons Barton – Poor try in last, so Kristin Mulhall takes the blinkers off; subtle class drop can only help.

4 Keen Bidder – Has been consistent on turf since coming over from England; will be part of a cavalry charge late.

Long Shot – 3 Otto Von Voom

Race 7 – 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $17,000, Claiming $16,000, 3-year-olds

4 Via Verde – Sliding down the claiming ladder to this career-low level; tactical speed to sit a perfect trip.

6 Plantsite – Don’t you like betting a horse that lost its jockey in last?; big rider switch to Rafael Bejarano.

Long Shot – Purse Luva

Race 8 – 6 furlongs (turf, rail at 15 feet), Purse $38,000, Maiden special weights, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

2 Nefarious – Beaten favorite looks ready to make a breakthrough; inside posts are better in turf sprints.

7 Stormy Slew – Like the turn back in distance from route to sprint; her best stride figures to be in the lane.

Long Shot – 5 Candace Gold

Best Bet – 5 Late Cuddle (race 1)

Hollywood Park Thursday – Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 16/4/$21.80; Long Shots, 8/2/$18.00; Best Bet, 1/0/$0

Hollywood Park Totals – 146/40/$227.40; Long Shots, 70/14/$129.00; Best Bets, 9/2/$8.60

SIMULCAST PICK OF THE DAY – 1 Speedy’s Gal (12/1) in race 8 at Aqueduct. For scoring purposes, we’ll make a hypothetical $2 win, place and show bet, $6 total. On Thursday, Chernobyl’s Hero ran out at Aqueduct. Stats – 190/138/$1,065.50
