Las Vegan Frank Mir will fight Andrei Arlovksi at UFC 191 on Sept. 5 at MGM Grand, Ultimate Fighting Championship officials confirmed on Saturday night.
Both are former heavyweight champions.
Arlovski held the belt in 2005 before losing twice to Tim Sylvia in 2006. He spent several years outside the UFC, but has won three straight fights since his return to the organization and five straight overall.
Mir, a Bonanza graduate, held the belt in 2004 only to be stripped when he was out of action due to a motorcycle accident. He claimed the interim title in 2008. Mir has won consecutive fights by first-round knockout, including a 73-second stoppage of Todd Duffee on July 15 in San Diego.
The event is headlined by a flyweight title bout between John Dodson and champion Demetrious Johnson. Anthony Johnson is scheduled to fight Jimi Manuwa in a light heavyweight bout.
Also, rising women’s strawweight star Paige Van Zant will fight Alex Chambers.
