After a dramatic night of upsets at MGM Grand last week, the Ultimate Fighting Championship has a rare bye week.
That doesn’t mean the mixed martial arts schedule is empty, even for fans in Las Vegas.
Invicta Fighting Championships, an all-female organization, will host its second event in the fight capital of the world on Friday night.
Invicta 16 takes place at Tropicana with the first fight scheduled at 5:30 p.m.
Several names fight fans will recognize are featured on the card.
Jessamyn Duke, a training partner and friend of former UFC women’s bantamweight cham Ronda Rousey, will take on Irene Aldana.
Duke was featured on “The Ultimate Fighter.” Several other alumni from the show will also be in action.
Angela Hill will meet Stephanie Eggink in a strawweight bout and Las Vegan Roxanne Modafferi will face DeAnna Bennett in an atomweight contest.
Two belts will also be on the line. Ayaka Hamasaki will defend the atomweight title against Amber Brown.
Also, Vanessa Porto and Jennifer Maia will meet for the interim flyweight title.
The event will stream live on the UFC’s online platform, Fight Pass.
Mixed martial arts fans still needing a fight fix on Saturday can tune to NBC Sports Network for the World Series of Fighting event in Greeley, Colo., on Saturday.
Rising star Justin Gaethje will defend the lightweight title in the main event against Brian Foster.
WSOF 29 airs live at 7 p.m.
