Strawweights Aguilar, Lima to meet at UFC 197

Former World Series of Fighting strawweight champion Jessica Aguilar will look to rebound from a loss in her Ultimate Fighting Championship debut when she meets Juliana Lima at UFC 197 on April 23 at MGM Grand, sources close to the organization confirmed Monday.

Aguilar, who vacated the WSOF belt when she signed with the UFC last year, had a 10-fight winning streak snapped when she lost a decision to top contender Claudia Gadelha in her August debut.

The 33-year-old owns a 2011 win over former UFC women’s strawweight champion Carla Esparza.

Lima, also 33, has won back-to-back fights by decision over Nina Ansaroff and Ericka Almeida after dropping her UFC debut to current women’s strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk in 2014.

UFC 197 is expected to be headlined by a light heavyweight title bout between champion Daniel Cormier and former champ Jon Jones. Demetrious Johnson will also defend the flyweight belt against Henry Cejudo.
