UFC’s return to Vancouver will feature featherweight debut of former champ Anthony Pettis

Former UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis will make his featherweight debut on the UFC on Fox 21 card on Aug. 27 against Charles Oliveira, the organization announced on Wednesday.

The event had not previously been confirmed.

It will take place at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, Canada. UFC on Fox 21 marks the organization’s fourth visit to the city and first since UFC 174 in June 2014.

Pettis lost his belt to Rafael dos Anjos in 2015 and announced a drop to 145 pounds after following up that defeat with a split decision loss to Eddie Alvarez in January and a unanimous decision loss to Edson Barboza in April.

Oliveira has won five of his last six fights with the lone loss coming to top contender Max Holloway in 2015. He is coming off a first-round submission of Myles Jury in December.

A middleweight bout between Gareth McLellan and Alessio Di Chirico is the only other bout to be announced for the card.

The arena also hosted UFC 131 in 2011 and UFC 115 in 2010.
