No surprise: Power wins IndyCar Sao Paulo
SAO PAULO - Will Power won IndyCar's Sao Paulo 300 for the third straight time on Sunday, finishing ahead of Ryan Hunter Reay on the 2.5-mile, 11-turn Anhembi circuit. The Australian was hardly challenged on the streets of South America's biggest city.
Takuma Sato had a great run to finish third for his first podium, after starting 25th.
■ NHRA - At Baytown, Texas, Mike Neff gave John Force Racing its sixth straight Funny Car victory to open the season, beating Ron Capps in the final of the NHRA Spring Nationals.
Neff had a pass of 4.239 seconds at 301.67 mph. Morgan Lucas (Top Fuel) Vincent Nobile (Pro Stock) and Andrew Hines (Pro Stock Motorcycle) won their respective divisions.
■ LVMS - Scott Gafforini and Alex Haase nabbed wins in the twin Super Late Model 30-lap features of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series on Saturday at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Gafforini took the first race and Haase the second.
Other winners included: Patrick O'Hanley (Chargers), Jason Kiser (Bombers), Jason Irwin (Legends), Jacob Tilton (Thunder Cars), Troy Wesolowski (Bandolero Bandits) and Noah Gragson (Bandolero Outlaws).
