Veteran desert racer Larry Roeseler knows he’ll be the co-driver for a Herbst brother in Saturday’s SCORE Baja 500.
He’s just not sure which one or whether it will be both.
Roeseler, who has won the prestigious event nine times on a motorcycle and twice on four wheels, will back up Las Vegans Troy and Tim Herbst in the SCORE Trophy-Trucks 454-mile race in Mexico.
Roeseler, of Boulevard, Calif., was Troy’s co-driver when they won Class 1 Baja 500 titles in 2002 and 2003.
The Baja 500, the third of five SCORE events, starts at 6 a.m. Saturday in Ensenada, Mexico, with motorcycle racers, followed by four-wheelers at 10. The fastest vehicles are expected to complete the race in about nine hours. It has a 23-hour time limit.
B.J. Baldwin, who will share driving duties with his father, Bobby Baldwin, won the overall Baja 500 title in 2008 and is the last Southern Nevadan to finish first. He was third last year.
Las Vegan Rob MacCachren won the last SCORE event in San Felipe, Mexico, and is seeking his fifth 500 class victory.

■ FONTANA DRAGS RESTRICTED — The dragstrip at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif., remains open, contrary to Internet rumors, but the track is running a reduced schedule.
San Bernardino County noise restrictions forced the speedway to cancel a few events this year, such as an NHRA National Open. But programs for street-legal, NHRA Jr. Dragster and regional series such as the Pacific Street Car Association will continue.
One of the Fontana events will move to Las Vegas Motor Speedway: The NHRA Pacific Division E.T. Finals will be Sept. 29 to Oct. 2.
■ PASTRANA IN MGM CIRCUS — X Games champion and freestyle Supercross pioneer Travis Pastrana will perform his high-flying antics Saturday during the Nitro Circus event at the MGM Grand Garden.
Pastrana, 27, is scheduled to debut in the NASCAR Nationwide Series for Michael Waltrip Racing on July 30 at Clermont, Ind.
