Ricardo Nanita homered and drove in three runs Thursday to lead the 51s to a 9-6 win over the Fresno Grizzlies in a Pacific Coast League game in Fresno, Calif.
Nanita’s first homer of the season, a two-run shot in the fourth inning, put Las Vegas (33-27) up 4-1. The Grizzlies (38-22) used two errors by 51s shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria to score three two-out runs in the bottom of the fourth to tie it.
But Las Vegas answered with a five-run fifth, highlighted by Nanita’s RBI single, to make a winner out of starter Aaron Laffey (3-5). The left-hander allowed five runs, two earned, on eight hits and one walk in five innings.
Vladimir Guerrero drove in his first run in five games with the 51s with a first-inning groundout. Jonathan Diaz had an RBI single in the second and another in the fifth for Las Vegas.
Diaz, Adam Lind and Travis d’Arnaud had three hits each for the 51s, who held a 17-11 edge in hits. Fresno starter Jason Stevenson (1-1) gave up five earned runs on 10 hits in four-plus innings.
