Rebels beat Arizona 74-72 in double overtime

TUCSON, Ariz. — Derrick Jasper made a 3-pointer with 1:39 left in the second overtime, and Tre’Von Willis scored 25 points to lift 24th-ranked UNLV to a thrilling 74-72 victory over Arizona tonight at the McKale Center.

The Rebels’ Kendall Wallace was fouled with 5.8 seconds left. Wallace missed the first free throw and made the second. The Wildcats’ Nic Wise took the inbounds pass and dribbled to the top of the key, where he was double-teamed and had his 3-point attempt blocked by UNLV freshman Justin Hawkins as time expired.

The Rebels, on the road for the first time this season, improved to 6-0.

Freshman forward Derrick Williams dominated inside and scored 28 points for Arizona (3-3).

It was the Rebels’ first double-overtime game since a 97-94 victory over Utah on Jan. 3, 2007.
