Sidewinders blindside 51s with late rally to win 8-5

Tucson scored four runs in the eighth inning on the strength of two walks and two triples to defeat the Las Vegas 51s 8-5 on Monday in Tucson, Ariz.

The Sidewinders' Jaime D'Antona tripled in two runs, and two batters later Rich Thompson smacked another RBI triple off the 51s' Matt White, who suffered the loss.

The 51s jumped to a 2-0 lead by scoring twice in the second. Larry Barnes tripled in one run for the 51s and later scored on a groundout.

The 51s extended their by scoring three more times in the third inning thanks to a double steal by Marlon Anderson and Delwyn Young. Andy LaRoche also drove in a run in the inning.

William Juarez got the start for the 51s (28-35) and gave up three runs in five innings.

The two teams meet again at 7 p.m. today
