Silverado dominates in doubles

Silverado's doubles team swept its nine sets Tuesday as the Skyhawks downed host Canyon Springs 12-6 in the quarterfinals of the Sunrise Region girls tennis tournament.

Silverado's doubles teams of Rachel Williams and Gianna Strong, Katie Barker and Alexis McNamara and Lindsey Fuller and Miranda Grol went 3-0. Jordan Minnick was 2-1 in singles for the Skyhawks (9-3).

Rebecca Breland went 3-0 in singles, and teammate Christian Earl was 2-1 for the Pioneers (10-2).

■ Liberty 13, Rancho 5 -- At Liberty, Ashley Wao-Udin went 3-0 in singles to lead the Patriots (10-2) past the Rams (5-6-1).

Liberty will host Silverado on Thursday.

■ Coronado 14, Valley 4 -- At Valley, Gabriela Smith was 2-0 in singles to help the Cougars defeat the Vikings (7-5).

Lea Cohen and Paige Nisson went 2-0 in doubles for Coronado (10-2).

■ Green Valley 14, Las Vegas 4 -- At Las Vegas High, the Gators (8-4) swept the nine doubles sets and upset the Northeast League champion Wildcats (9-3).

Alyssa Boman was 3-0 in singles for Green Valley, which will visit Coronado on Thursday.

SUNSET REGION

■ Palo Verde 10, Durango 8 -- At Palo Verde, Victoire Saperstein and Nikki Newell each went 3-0 in singles to help the Panthers (11-1) edge the Trailblazers (9-4).

Claire Melo and Andrea Melo went 3-0 in doubles for Durango.

■ Clark 12, Faith Lutheran 6 -- At Clark, Natasha James went 3-0 in singles, and the team of Hannah Hagen and Julia Hagen went 3-0 in doubles to help the Chargers (12-0-1) down the Crusaders (7-6).

Maddie Pasimio went 2-0 in singles for Clark, which will host Palo Verde on Thursday.

Renee Vogel was 2-1 in singles, and Olivia Demarta and Aubrey Astle went 2-1 in doubles for Faith Lutheran.

■ The Meadows 18, Spring Valley 0 -- At The Meadows, Taler Brazell went 3-0 in singles to lead a clean sweep by the Mustangs (11-0).

McKay Novak and Shannon Chen went 3-0 in doubles for The Meadows.

Spring Valley finished 7-5.

■ Bishop Gorman 16, Centennial 2 -- At Centennial, Polly Kulla and Kathryn Kinas each went 3-0 in singles as the Gaels (8-3) eliminated the Bulldogs (7-5).

Gorman will visit The Meadows on Thursday.
