Want to ditch work and watch the U.S.-Germany World Cup match Thursday? Do it. You’ve got a note.
U.S. Soccer sent the excuse note out on its Twitter feed Wednesday, encouraging soccer fans to show it to their “cool bosses” and ensuring that it will “definitely work.”
Of course, the note is signed by USMNT head coach Jurgen Klinsmann.
In case you’ve been living under a rock, Team Bomb Pop faces the Germans with its World Cup life on the line on Thursday. To make things simple (Don’t like simple?), a tie or win versus the European power will assure the U.S. men a spot in the knockout round of the World Cup, a scenario that seemed unlikely when the U.S. was drawn into the Group of Death in December.
Klinsmann would like all the support he can get for the team on Thursday, but he would also like everyone to remember that it’s not all fun and games. “And don’t forget to wear your jersey!! #businessattire,” he tweeted later on Wednesday.
Game time is 9am PT, and the game can be seen on ESPN and Univision. And if your boss isn’t so cool, you can also watch on ESPN3.com.
