Three fifth-inning home runs helped lift the Portland Beavers to a 7-6 Pacific Coast League victory over the 51s on Thursday night in Portland, Ore.
Las Vegas (20-20) led 2-1 before Chase Headley led off the fifth with his fifth homer of the season. After Brian Myrow doubled, Chip Ambres hit his seventh homer and Will Venable his third to put the Beavers (18-20) ahead 5-2.
Venable added a two-run double in the eighth for Portland, which halted a five-game losing streak.
The 51s took a 2-0 lead in the first on Andy LaRoche’s sacrifice fly and Danny Ardoin’s RBI single. Myrow, who finished 4-for-4, hit a run-scoring double in the third to cut the Beavers’ deficit in half.
John Lindsey hit his fourth homer of the season in the sixth for Las Vegas, and Xavier Paul belted a two-run shot, his third, in the ninth.
Cesar Ramos (4-3) pitched the first 5 2/3 innings for the victory, giving up four runs on six hits. Losing pitcher Justin Orenduff (1-1) gave up five runs on eight hits and four walks in four-plus innings.
