UNLV’s Devonte Boyd added to Biletnikoff watch list
For the second straight year, UNLV junior wide receiver Devonte Boyd has been named to the official preseason watch list for the Biletnikoff Award, which is presented annually to the nation’s top pass catcher.
The 10 Biletnikoff Award semifinalists will be announced on Nov. 14 and the field will be narrowed to three finalists on Nov. 22. The 2016 winner will be presented live on Dec. 8 during The Home Depot College Football Awards Show on ESPN.
Boyd, a Basic High School graduate, was a unanimous choice for the 2016 preseason first team All-Mountain West by Lindy’s, Athlon, Sporting News, ESPN and Phil Steele’s preview publications. The honors candidate has the school record for most receiving yards through his sophomore season with 1,884. Boyd posted five 100-yard receiving games last season and finished with 54 catches for 904 yards and seven touchdowns as he became the third UNLV player to reach 900 yards in multiple seasons.
The Rebels open the 2016 season on Thursday, Sept. 1, when they host Jackson State at Sam Boyd Stadium.
