Lady Rebels’ 3-point prowess fuels win over Colorado State

The UNLV women’s basketball team knocked down 12 3-pointers, tying a school record en route to 63-50 victory over Colorado State in a Mountain West game Sunday at Cox Pavilion.
Briana Charles was a perfect 6-for-6 from the floor, including four 3-pointers, scoring 16 points to pace the Lady Rebels (6-12, 2-2 MW), who hit 12 of 26 from 3-point range (46.2 percent). Alana Cesarz had 14 points and Rmanii Haynes 11, including three 3-pointers.
UNLV was bolstered by a 15-2 first-half run that erased a 16-8 deficit, along with a pair of 8-0 second-half surges to pad the lead. Caitlin Duffy led the Rams (5-11, 1-2) with 17 points.
■ WOMEN’S TENNIS – UNLV netted two doubles wins to close out the Freeman Memorial Women’s Tennis Championships at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
Aleksandra Josifoska and Iren Kotseva beat Oregon’s Julia Metzger and Sofia Hager 8-7, and in a meeting of two UNLV teams, Janine Erasmus and Anett Ferenczi-Bako won 8-0 over Ella Bourchier and Alexis Garrett.
In the tournament’s main draw, Southern California’s Sabrina Santamaria won the flight one singles title and teamed with Kaitlyn Christian to win the flight one doubles crown.
