Rebels comfortably ahead

UNLV has built a 44-23 halftime advantage over Wyoming in the regular-season finale at the Thomas & Mack Center.

Tre’Von Willis has 13 points and four rebounds to lead the Rebels, who have forced 16 turnovers.

UNLV jumped out to a 7-2 lead right out of the gates and never trailed. The 21-point lead is the biggest of the half.

Darris Santee has nine points and four rebounds on his senior day and Oscar Bellfield dished out six assists in the half.

Djibril Thiam has nine points to lead Wyoming at the break.

Is there a draft in here?

Fans love to mock on opposing players that throw up airballs, but they don’t happen very often during the course of a game.

That has not been the case for Wyoming today.

The Cowboys have thrown up an unbelievable four airballs in the first half.

UNLV wasn’t immune to the problem, either.

Tre’Von Willis threw up a 3-pointer that missed everything.

Fixed promotion

Apparently the marketing staff doesn’t want anyone to win the “Text the artist promotion today.

Each home game, a song is played in the arena and fans are asked to text the name of the artist to a designated number.

It was made pretty tricky during the first half of today’s games because none of the three multiple choice answers was correct.

The song “Play That Funky Music” was mistakenly played. The song is by the band Wild Cherry, which was not one of the choices.

Chet Buchanan, from 98.5 KLUC-FM, who acts as the emcee of the in-game promotional events recognized the mistake and had them play the correct song.

Fort Collins Update

Colorado State leads Utah by four in Fort Collins, Colo. just after halftime in a game that will likely determine UNLV’s opponent in the first round of the conference tournament.

The Rebels will play the loser of that game, should they hold on to defeat Wyoming today.
