Rebels set to host Holy Cross

The UNLV Runnin’ Rebels prepare to play their fourth straight home game to start the season Wednesday night at the Thomas & Mack Center.

The opponent is Holy Cross, a team that has started the season 0-4, but is the favorite to win the Patriot League.

The Las Vegas Hilton posted the line at UNLV -16.

The Rebels hope to avoid another slow start, a problem that has carried over from recent years.

UNLV has started slowly in each of its three previous games, but has again proven to be a very good second half team. The depth of this squad should make that the case all season.

Lights, please!

The opening video to tip off the pre-game fireworks display featured the Review-Journal’s own Norm Clarke.

Starters

UNLV will stick with a starting lineup of Derrick Jasper and Oscar Bellfield in the backcourt.

Chace Stanback and Tre'Von Willis will man the forward positions.

Brice Massamba continues to get the start in the post.

He has been sharing time with Darris Santee and Matt Shaw, but Massamba appears the most likely of the three to take over the majority of minutes at the position.

The sophomore has dropped a great deal of weight and has looked much improved in the first three games.

Holy Cross will start both Eric Meister and Andrew Keister. They have to have some sort of nickname.
