Air Force’s second victory of year comes at expense of Lady Rebels, 81-69

The UNLV women’s basketball team lost to Air Force 81-69 on Saturday in a Mountain West game at Air Force Academy, Colo., giving the Falcons their second win of the season.

UNLV (5-11, 1-1 MW) struggled on the boards, getting outrebounded 60-37, which helped the Falcons (2-13, 1-1) to a 21-7 advantage on second-chance points. The Lady Rebels also went 2-for-13 from 3-point range (15.4 percent).

UNLV trailed by 12 midway through the first half but got the deficit to 38-33 with 17:51 remaining. Air Force then countered with a 14-3 run to go up 52-36, and the Falcons pushed the lead to 18 points twice in putting away the Lady Rebels.

Danielle Miller led UNLV with 21 points, Alana Cesarz scored 13 and Kelli Thompson 12.

Air Force had three players net double-doubles – Katie Hilbig (14 points, 16 rebounds), Dymond James (14 points, 15 rebounds) and Cherae Medina (13 points, 10 assists).
