Lady Rebels’ rally not enough in overtime loss to Montana
The UNLV women's basketball team made an 8-0 run to force overtime against Montana, but couldn't finish from there in a 69-65 loss to open the Lady Rebel Round-Up on Saturday at Cox Pavilion.
The game was tied at 60 to end regulation and again at 64 in OT before Montana went up 67-64 on two free throws from Kelli Cole and another from Kenzie De Boer. After a Rejane Verin free throw for the Lady Rebels, Katie Baker put the Lady Griz (3-1) up 69-65 on a shot clock-beating jumper with 30 seconds left.
Danielle Miller led UNLV (2-3) with 19 points and added seven rebounds. Kelli Thompson, who had back-to-back three-point plays during the Rebels' overtime-forcing run, had 18 points, and Alana Cesarz had 13 points and nine rebounds.
In today's third-place game at 1 p.m., UNLV will play Bowling Green. Montana plays Villanova in the final at 3:30 p.m.
