Transfers make it official, sign with UNLV

UNLV basketball coach Dave Rice said he received signed financial aid agreements from transfers Ben Carter and Jerome Seagears, and both will enroll in summer school.

Carter, a 6-foot-8-inch, 220-pound forward, is a Bishop Gorman High graduate. He transferred from Oregon, where he played in all 37 games as a freshman and appeared in 25 games as a sophomore. Carter will sit out the 2014-15 season as a redshirt and will be a junior for the 2015-16 season.

Seagears, a 6-1 point guard, is transferring after three seasons at Rutgers, where he played in 94 games with 56 starts. He is seeking an NCAA waiver to be eligible this season.

Carter and Seagears join Jordan Cornish, Cody Doolin, Patrick McCaw, Dwayne Morgan, Goodluck Okonoboh and Rashad Vaughn to form the Rebels’ 2014 recruiting class.
