5 players to watch in the UNLV-UNR game

Five players to watch when UNLV’s football team plays at UNR at 4 p.m. Saturday:

1. Mike Hughes Jr., DT, UNLV: It’s not just Hughes, but the entire defensive line that will be key to defending a Wolf Pack run game that averages 210.5 yards per game. Hughes is an important part of that effort.

2 and 3. James Butler and Don Jackson, RBs, UNR: Butler has rushed for 382 yards and Jackson for 381, making them the best 1-2 combination in the Mountain West.

4. Keith Whitely, RB, UNLV: Notice a trend? This game comes down to establishing the run and stopping the run. Whitely, as well as Xzaviar Campbell and Lexington Thomas, need to set the tone on the ground.

5. Salesa Faraimo, NT, UNR: Losing defensive tackle Rykeem Yates to suspension is a considerable loss for UNR and puts additional pressure on Faraimo to handle the interior and keep UNLV from having success running.
