RENO -- Gary Wilkinson scored 21 points and Jared Quayle and Tai Wesley both had double-doubles to help Utah State defeat UNR 72-62 to capture the Western Athletic Conference Tournament final Saturday night.
Quayle had 15 points and 10 rebounds, and Wesley had 14 points and 11 rebounds for the top-seeded Aggies (30-4).
The tournament title gave the WAC regular-season champions their sixth trip to the NCAA Tournament in 10 years but first since 2006.
Utah State held the second-seeded Wolf Pack scoreless for the first 61/2 minutes, and UNR scoring leader Luke Babbitt didn't have a field goal in the first half.
Armon Johnson scored 17 of his 20 points in the second half to lead UNR (21-12). Babbitt, a freshman, scored eight points on 3-for-12 shooting. The Wolf Pack hit only two of their first 21 field-goal attempts.
