Vegas finds a way to capitalize on Spurs air conditioner outage

Las Vegas found a way to turn Game 1 of the NBA Finals into a promotional opportunity on Thursday.

The San Antonio Spurs have apologized for the air conditioning at the AT&T Center failing during Thursday night’s game against the Miami Heat — which the Spurs won,110-95 — but a “sorry” wasn’t enough to keep Vegas from capitalizing on the mishap.

The temperature exceeded 90 degrees during the outage, according to Sports Illustrated.

“Just a reminder, San Antonio: #Vegas hotels have air conditioning 24/7 #VegasSeason #summer,” the @Vegas Twitter account tweeted at 9:31 p.m. Thursday, referring to the current Vegas Season ad campaign. The tweet got dozens of retweets and favorites.

The Vegas Season ads were introduced this year by the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority to play off the common complaint that Christmas music is played earlier and earlier every year. The ads point out that “summer is Vegas Season.”
