Will Price be right for Blue Jays to hold off Royals?
The Blue Jays are 4-0 in elimination games this postseason and will need to win two more do-or-die duels against the Royals to advance to their first World Series since 1993.
Kansas City, which erased a 3-1 deficit to top Toronto in the 1985 American League Championship Series, hosts the Blue Jays in Game 6 today to kick off a loaded weekend of sports on TV featuring No. 3 Utah at Southern California, the New York Jets at the New England Patriots and two events taking place in Las Vegas in the PGA Tour's Shriners Hospitals for Children Open and the Professional Bull Riders World Finals.
TODAY
ALCS, Toronto Blue Jays at Kansas City Royals, Game 6 (5 p.m., FS1 (329)): The Jays hope their Price is right in this one, as David Price is still searching for his first playoff win as a starter. The Toronto ace has two postseason wins in relief but is 0-7 in seven starts. Price tossed six scoreless innings in Game 2 before allowing five runs in the seventh en route to a 6-3 loss. After starting last season with a 28-year playoff drought, the Royals are one win from their second straight World Series appearance. Teams with a 3-1 lead in a best-of-7 series have advanced 67 of 79 times.
BEST OF REST: Bull riding: PBR World Finals, third round (6 p.m., CBSSN (333)); Football: Utah State at San Diego State (7:30 p.m., ESPN2 (31)); NHL: Boston Bruins at New York Islanders (4:30 p.m., NHLN (316)), Carolina Hurricanes at Los Angeles Kings (7:30 p.m., FSW (49)); PGA Tour: Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, second round (2 p.m., TGC (339)).
SATURDAY
No. 3 Utah at Southern California (4:30 p.m., Fox (5)): The Utes (6-0) are 3½-point underdogs to the Trojans (3-3), who will try to avoid their first three-game losing streak in the regular season since 2001. Utah, which has risen to No. 3 in The Associated Press Top 25 poll for its highest regular-season ranking ever, looks to keep its unbeaten run alive with its first win over USC at the Coliseum since 1916.
BEST OF REST: Bull riding: PBR World Finals, fourth round (6 p.m., CBSSN (333)); Football: Tennessee at No. 8 Alabama (12:30 p.m., CBS (8)), No. 15 Texas A&M at No. 24 Mississippi (4 p.m., ESPN (30)); MLB: (If necessary) ALCS, Toronto Blue Jays at Kansas City Royals, Game 7 (5 p.m., FS1 (329)); PGA Tour: Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, third round (2 p.m., TGC (339)).
SUNDAY
New York Jets at New England Patriots (10 a.m., CBS (8)): The Patriots' official Twitter account jabbed the Jets on Throwback Thursday by posting a Buttfumble picture with the caption "Seems relevant." But these aren't Mark Sanchez's Jets. Surprising New York, led by the NFL's No. 1 defense, is off to a 4-1 start for the first time since 2010, the last year they made it to the playoffs. New England (5-0), the league's highest-scoring offense, has won seven of the past eight meetings.
Philadelphia Eagles at Carolina Panthers (5:20 p.m., NBC (3)): The Panthers have started 5-0 for the first time since 2003, when they made their only Super Bowl appearance, and are gunning for the franchise's first 6-0 start. Cam Newton hit Greg Olsen for a 26-yard touchdown pass with 32 seconds left Sunday for a 27-23 victory at Seattle. Bishop Gorman product DeMarco Murray had his first 100-yard game for the Eagles (3-3), who have won two straight, in Monday's 27-7 win over the New York Giants.
