Yahoo! Sports Radio bringing new show to Las Vegas

Yahoo! Sports Radio is expected to announce today that the national network will have a new affiliate in Las Vegas starting Monday on KMQZ-AM (670), which will be branded THE SCORE.

Local sports handicapper Ken Thomson will continue to broadcast his show, Sports X Radio, live from the glass-enclosed Yahoo! Sports Radio studio at Lagasse’s Stadium at the Palazzo, where the network’s core lineup will team up July 13 to 17 for the network’s second annual SuperWeek.

“We have had a significant presence in Las Vegas through our great partnership with the Palazzo,” said David Gow, CEO of Yahoo! Sports Radio. “It’s so exciting to welcome our newest Las Vegas partner and to build on our deep connection with the market through a terrestrial signal. It’s going to be a big win for everyone.”

The network lineup will be highlighted by Steve Czaban from 7 to 10 a.m. weekdays and Prime Cut with Sean Salisbury and John Granato from 1 to 5 p.m.

Sports agent Leigh Steinberg will be among a group of rotating hosts from 5 to 7 p.m. weekdays on the network, which also will air Denver Broncos, San Francisco 49ers and UCLA football games.

“Yahoo! has built locally-rooted connections with their national programming across the country, and we’re excited to be an integral part of their Las Vegas presence,” KMZQ general manager Marty Basch said. “From special events, like SuperWeek, to nightly broadcasts with Ken Thomson in the all-glass studio, this is a great opportunity for AM670 and its listeners to connect locally, get their national sports information, and be represented nationwide.”

Yahoo! Sports Radio joins a crowded sports radio market in Las Vegas as KWWN (1100 AM, 100.9 FM) is an ESPN Radio affiliate, KBAD-AM (920, The Game) is an NBC Sports Radio affiliate, KRLV-AM (1340) is a Fox Sports Radio affiliate, KXST-AM (1140) is a CBS Sports Radio affiliate and KSHP-AM (1400), which carries Los Angeles Dodgers games, is a Sports Byline USA affiliate.
