Young belts two home runs to help 51s throttle Redbirds

The 51s, paced by Delwyn Young’s two home runs, put up at least one run in seven innings Monday night, rolling to a 14-7 Pacific Coast League victory over the Memphis Redbirds in Memphis, Tenn.

Las Vegas (26-31) scored three runs in the first and fifth innings, with Young hitting a two-run homer in the first, and Choo Freeman hitting a three-run double in the fifth.

In the third inning, Mitch Jones had an RBI triple, then scored on an Andy LaRoche sacrifice fly.

Young had another two-run homer in the sixth to give the 51s a 12-3 lead.

Sergio Garcia homered in the fourth, and Larry Barnes homered in the ninth.

The scoring outburst helped make the night easy for starter Spike Lundberg (3-4), who allowed three runs on eight hits and a walk, with five strikeouts.

Young and Freeman both finished 4-for-5 for the 51s, and Garcia, Jones and Matt Kemp each went 3-for-6.
