Motorcyclist dies in crash near Sahara, Paradise in Las Vegas

A motorcyclist who police said was driving at high speed died early Sunday after crashing into a vehicle in the central valley.

Just after 1:40 a.m., witnesses told police the 25-year-old motorcyclist, on a Honda CBR 1000, was seen approaching the intersection of East Sahara Avenue and South Van Patten Street, near Paradise Road. The motorcycle struck a Hyundai Tucson, throwing the motorcyclist.

The motorcyclist died at the scene; the Hyundai’s passengers were uninjured. Police said the driver remained at the scene, where she passed a field sobriety test.

The motorcyclist’s death marks the 109th traffic-related fatality investigated by the Metropolitan Police Department this year. The Clark County coroner will identify him once his family has been notified.
