A man died Tuesday night after he was hit by a car in the central valley.

Police responded to a call at 11:23 p.m. at Paradise Road and East Harmon Avenue, Metropolitan Police Department Lt. David Gordon said.

Police said an 85-year-old man was crossing Paradise outside of a marked crosswalk near the Hard Rock Hotel when a Ford Mustang struck him. The pedestrian was taken to a hospital, where he died, Gordon said.

The Mustang’s driver did not appear impaired, Gordon said.

The man’s death marks the 89th traffic fatality Metro has investigated this year.
