National Flip Flop Day Friday
Tropical Smoothie Cafés across the Las Vegas Valley are set to participate in the fifth annual National Flip Flop Day on Friday.
The first 500 customers who visit each of the 20 locations in the valley wearing flip flop sandals will receive a free
24-ounce Jetty Punch smoothie.
This is the fourth year that Tropical Smoothie Café will be raising money for Camp Sunshine, a summer camp designed specifically for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families to provide a week of rest, relaxation, medical counseling and emotional support. Customers are invited to contribute to the fundraising effort by purchasing paper flip flops for $1 through June 26, which will be posted throughout each store. Customers who donate $5 or more in-store will receive a Flip Flop Key Fob good for 10 percent off all purchases in 2011.
Customers also can text “CAMP” to 20222 to donate $10 automatically. Proceeds from all sales of Sunrise Sunset smoothies will go to Camp Sunshine.

Festival of Beer headed to Tivoli Village
The 2011 Great Vegas Festival of Beer is planned from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Tivoli Village at Queensridge at the corner of Alta Drive and Rampart Boulevard. More than 100 beers will be served from 25 top breweries.
Tickets are $27 in advance online and $37 at the door and $10 for designated drivers. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Boys & Girls Clubs of Las Vegas.

Fleming’s to host Father’s Day brunch
Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar, 8721 W. Charleston Blvd., plans to serve a three-course Father’s Day brunch from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.
The brunch menu includes a choice of appetizer (fresh fruit salad or The Wedge salad), entree choices of mushroom, cheddar and filet mignon frittata; berry-stuffed French toast; smoked salmon and toasted bagel; asparagus, Swiss cheese and lump crab frittata; and filet Benedict. Dessert choices will be walnut turtle pie, creme brulee and New York-style cheesecake.
The cost for the brunch is $32.95. Fathers also will receive a $25 dining card good Monday through July 17.

The Suncoast, 9090 Alta Drive, plans to serve Father’s Day specials from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday in Coasta Cantina.
The three-course special is $17.99 and features choice of roasted corn and mixed greens or house salad, choice of pescado puerto nuevo (fish filet, shrimp and scallops), parrillada con camarones (beef, chicken and shrimp fajitas) or carne tampiquena (marinated skirt steak). Dessert choices are tres leches cake or margarita cheesecake.
The SC Prime Steakhouse and Bar plans to serve a special for $42 from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday. It includes choice of soup or salad and entree choices of grilled filet mignon with bacon-wrapped, crab-stuffed shrimp or coriander shrimp-crusted seabass. Dessert is strawberry shortcake.

Easter Seals in June
Sweet Tomatoes plans to support Easter Seals Southern Nevada by offering a free bag of cookies and a coupon toward each diner’s next visit as a thank you for making a donation of $2 or more during June.
Over the last four years, Sweet Tomatoes has donated more than $119,000 to help Easter Seals locations across the country in its mission to help people with disabilities and other challenges.
The money raised will go directly to the Easter Seals services that assist nearly 6,000 Southern Nevada residents living with disabilities.

Festa Junina celebration set

Festa Junina is a Brazilian festival that takes place in June. The celebration at Via Brasil is set to feature children’s entertainment, including balloon animals, face painting and showings of a popular children’s movie on a 100-inch projection screen at 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. with popcorn, snow cones and caramel apple treats.
