A romance twofer from Trudi

“Everything’s Coming Up Rosie” by Kasey Michaels is about a woman, Rosie, who is from an affluent family but has strived for independence. She is not in the market for a husband or even a long-term relationship. She is, however, stuck for a week making “nice” with her friend Lili-Beth’s family during her wedding party. Add to this mix, one Doug Llewellyn who is cousin to the bride. He is a 40-year-old confirmed bachelor who has become bored and unsatisfied with the string of young women he’s been dating.
But meeting Rosie opens Doug’s eyes to a new world of possibilities. During the week, Rosie and Doug try to figure out a way to stop the marriage of Lili-Beth to a money grubbing scoundrel. Their escapades bring them closer to each other and might even convince them that happily ever after does happen. This novel is filled with the unexpected, lots of comedy and makes for great summer reading.
Another book full of humor is “A Highlander Never Surrenders” by Paula Quinn.
This book is set in the mid-1600s, during a time of great unrest in Scotland and surrounding countries. Scottish rebel Claire Stuart has taken it upon herself to rescue her sister from enemy clutches. They have murdered her brother and stolen her sister. During her travels to Edinburgh to rescue her sister, she meets up with Robert Campbell, the Earl of Argyll, and Graham Grant, a handsome highlander. Claire is suspicious because of her blood relationship to the rightful king of England.
Trained from a very young age to fight and swing a sword, Claire is more than willing to kill or be killed to rescue her sister. Unknown to her, the “enemy” has granted her hand in marriage to Robert Campbell and the hand of her sister to their brother’s most trusted friend, James Buchanan. Graham tells Claire that he believes that James had a hand in her brother’s death. Claire refuses to believe him, but she must overcome the heated desire she feels every time the highlander appears. Can they find a happy medium and live happily ever after or will they continue to fight? “A Highlander Never Surrenders” is full of comedy and suspense and is sure to please those sitting by the pool with a nice cool drink.
