Goynes Elementary School, located within the Aliante master-planned community, hosted a carnival May 4.
According to Becky Biarnesen, president of the school’s PTA, nearly 2,000 children and parents attended the afternoon event, which featured games, food and exhibits.
“This was our first annual Goynes Carnival and we were amazed by the response and cooperation we received from the parents and many community-based businesses,” Biarnesen said. “The feedback we received was phenomenal. People told us it was so nice to be able to have a night where they could enjoy themselves with their families and neighbors at a minimal expense.
“We were also amazed at the number of wonderful gifts that were donated by the parents and various companies,” she said. “In fact, we were able to generously fill more than 50 gift baskets for our raffles — far beyond what we had ever anticipated. It was a very successful event and we look forward to making it an annual happening at Goynes Elementary School.”
