AROUND TOWN: Take a bite of Chicago at Pie Town Pizza

If you’re from Chicagoland, then you’ll want to make the pilgrimage to Pie Town Pizza, 2833 N. Green Valley Parkway at Sunset Road in Henderson. The owners understand authentic Chicago-style food and have cut no corners in bringing the experience to the valley. Not only do they bring in Chicago staples such as Gonnella bread, Green River, Vienna beef and Eli’s cheesecake, but they also treat the water so that the pH levels match the water back home.

Pie Town feels like many of the pizza and hot dog joints back in Chicago. There’s a tin ceiling, brick walls, and you order at the counter. Two giant murals with Chicago landmarks and iconic figures hang from the walls, including The Blues Brothers, Oprah, Michael Jordan and Mike Ditka.

The menu has all the Chicago-style favorites that you’d expect, from Italian and cheesy beef sandwiches to Polish sausage and Chicago dogs. And, of course, there’s pizza, in both thin and deep-dish styles. Diners can choose from a variety of toppings to create their own pies, or they can order one of the specialty pizzas, such as the Superfan Special, which has sausage, onion, bell pepper, olive and onions, or the Wise Guy, which has tomato, spinach and garlic. There’s also a selection of salads and appetizers for those with lighter appetites.

Pie Town Pizza offers delivery and carryout orders. Call 244-2246 or visit for a complete menu.
