Bye week busy for Hauck, Rebels

UNLV football coach Bobby Hauck said last week’s bye was spent mostly preparing for the future.

"Recruiting was probably most important for us last week," he said on this morning’s Mountain West Conference teleconference. "We went out and got the job done. We also had some physical practices early in the week."

The Rebels (1-6, 1-2 MWC) return to the field at 8 p.m. Saturday to play No. 4 Texas Christian (8-0, 4-0) at Sam Boyd Stadium.

TCU’s Jeremy Kerley is one of the nation’s top return specialists. He averages 28.1 yards per kickoff return and 15.0 on punts.

"He has the ability to finish in the end zone any time he touches the ball," Hauck said. "That dimension makes you want to hold on by your fingernails to try to get him stopped any time he has the ball in his hands."
