California drought trip … or golf trip?

I don’t begrudge any president domestic travel. It’s part of being a leader. No matter how you cut it, it is expensive.

Precisely because it is expensive, however, gives pause to show concern for how President Obama spends taxpayer money.

Consider the president’s trip to Palm Springs in February. Documents that Judicial Watch Freedom forced the Administration to make public show that the California trip cost $2,066,594.60 in airfare alone.

The president’s weekend trip was taken to highlight the state’s severe drought. But according to the official schedule, President Obama spent four hours on drought related events and three days playing golf at ritzy California golf courses (which use water, BTW).

In this economy, that kind of expenditure and use of time illustrates how insensitive this president is to spending other people’s money. If you’re going to spend a couple of million dollars to get to California for drought issues, spend your time doing that work, not golfing.

The California trip is just one example of this. Here are some more.
