Over the years, Brian and Michelle Tang have visited Las Vegas as a recreational destination. After purchasing a condominium in Monterey at Las Vegas Country Club, the Vancouver, British Columbia residents now call the city their second home.
“I was doing research on real estate opportunities in Las Vegas and learned about Monterey. The No. 1 reason why we decided to buy a home in Las Vegas is because the Canadian dollar is on par with the U.S. dollar. That, plus the fact that the housing prices in the United States are a bit down right now,” said Brian Tang, president of Fundamental Research Corp. in Vancouver. “I believe that our condominium at Monterey is a good investment for us. Plus, my wife, Michelle, really likes Las Vegas.”
The Tangs considered a few communities throughout the Las Vegas Valley, but ultimately selected Monterey.
“One of the reasons why we chose Monterey is because of its location near the Strip. I like going to the shows, dining, nightclubs, everything, and it is all just a few blocks away,” Michelle Tang said.
“I used to say that I would love to live in Las Vegas when coming here on vacation. A couple of years later, I am excited to have a home here,” she said, adding that due to technology and the Internet they can telecommute to their Vancouver office from their new Monterey home. “… We plan to use the condo as a second home, with at least one of us coming here every month.”
Purchasing a fully furnished residence also appealed to the couple. In addition to designer furniture and upgraded appliances, their home included artwork, window coverings and linens, making it a turn-key purchase.
The Tangs chose the St. Andrews 1 design, a one-bedroom, one-bath condo unit that measures about 750 square feet. Their design is one of 27 floor-plan variations available, measuring from 624 to 1,700 square feet.
Many homes are located along the country club’s golf-course fairways. Architectural elements include private patios or balconies, floor-to-ceiling fireplaces, wetbars, built-in bookshelves, and oversized walk-in closets. Upgraded flooring, two-tone paint, maple cabinets and slab granite counters are all included features.
All residents have access to the resort-style amenities behind the 24-hour guarded gates of the Las Vegas Country Club, located next to the Las Vegas Hilton. Among the amenities are five swimming pools, hot tubs, an onsite fitness center and picnic areas with gas barbecues.
To visit Monterey, take Interstate 15 and exit Sahara Avenue east. Turn right on Paradise Road and left on Karen Avenue. Enter the community through the Las Vegas Country Club Estates gate on Karen Avenue, located between Paradise Road and Maryland Parkway. The gate attendant directs visitors to the sales center.
The Monterey sales office is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
